Considering VOIP? Avoid Glopex
At my office we use Glopex for our long distance calls over VOIP. Yesterday I had my first experience with them since their service simply stopped working. The first thing I did was go to there website and click on "support". The support page is useless. I called the number on top of the page and followed the prompts to get to support. The hold music is set so loud that all you can hear is distortion and static. Speaking of static, when you call them you can instantly recognize that they are using their own VOIP system due to the low quality and frequent tinny sound. I got through to what the voice prompts told me was technical support, but the lady on the phone was neither technical nor supporting. I explained the issue to her that I was having in painful detail and was told that she would call their technician(that's right, 1 technician) and I would hear back from him I gave her the phone number for my desk as well as the reception area. The rest of the day went by without a call back. I called Glopex back this morning when I first got in to the office and the answering machine told me that they don't open until 9:30am. That is really late for a tech support department to be opening if they are supposedly providing business-class services. I waited until 9:31 and called back in. The same lady recognized me from the previous day and told me that both of the phone numbers I gave her were wrong. I assured her they were not, and I told her to read them back to me. She read back both phone numbers and they were in fact correct. She then proceeded to tell me that obviously my technical issue was with Telus because she couldn't phone my office. I explained that our office took between 50 and 100 phone calls during the past 2 days and Telus was not the issue. While I eventually got her to understand that fact, it took about 20 minutes. I then had to re-explain the issue to her and she said she would transfer me to the technician. I was greeted with more distorted loud hole music and then Mr. Technician's answering machine. I left a message, hung up the phone and called right back in. I explained to the lady over her tinny, distorted phone line that an answering machine was not going to get my phone working. I let her know that in the real world, a business-class service would not be down for 24 hours without any action from the provider. She said the tech would call me back before noon. An hour after I was supposed to get my call back I phoned Glopex tech support again. She said the technician checked and my system is working fine. At this point I will admit I am close to losing my mind. I told the lady that I would not spend two days of my life phoning her to play tricks on her. I then asked for the manager, but he was at a customer's place; I asked for the technician, he was off site; I asked for someone else to talk to, there was no one. I told her I am a network administrator and I can recognize hardware failure pretty quickly. The VOIP hardware provided to us by them has failed and I need a technician at my office with new hardware to resolve my issue. She said my office was really far away and they wanted to save time. I told her that they should be more interested in saving a customer because I have been without service for two days, and if/when they do restore the service, I will still be mad and they will probably lose me anyways. If they wanted a chance at seeing another invoice paid by us they will get our system back up and running. She said she would call me back. It has now been an hour and I have not had a call back yet. Damn you Glopex, you really suck. Labels: tech |
